About two years ago our neighboring state of Idaho was able to get enough votes to repeal the helmet law when riding motorcycles on public roads. I have to say while I am all for personal freedom one of the craziest things you can do is jump on a bike and head down the freeway with no helmet. While you may be a great attentive driver it is all the other cars on the road that may not see you and taking a spill at 50+ can be a one way ticket to the morgue. This has only spurred the sales of local bike shops as people challenge the status quo and head out onto the roads without a helmet. As the ability to get motorcycle financing has become easier younger riders that may have not previously owned a bike are making their first purchase. This has been a cause of concern of some of the die hard bikers that state the younger riders are taking a reckless approach to trying out their new bikes and that maybe the law should be looked at having a age restriction like they do for drinking in the state.
