If you have ever wanted to increase your vocabulary then I would suggest  picking up a crossword puzzle. My kids are constantly getting assignments to help expand their vocabulary and what we found is that by doing the crossword puzzles in the Sunday paper they are able to learn and use more words. This in turn has helped me in my day to day interactions with some of my customers. Plus the fact that my kids and I are starting a habit where we are spending quality time together away from the TV and computer in order to learn and expand our knowledge as well as spend time as a family.

You can also go to to lexiology.com and  find the most searched words that can help you locate words that you may not be familiar with and then learn the proper definition and use of the word.  One of the words that my daughter found and used in one of her papers was esoteric. Which according to the american dictionary means “confined to and understandable by only an enlightened inner circle”. They also give you the word in a sentence and the various forms and pronunciations of the word which is very helpful can help prevent an embarrassing situation. Imagine trying to show off your new found words and then mispronouncing the word. And for all you iPhone app fanatics yes there is an app for that as well. You can download the app and search words and meanings no matter where you and be able to impress your professor and friends.
