Content generated by consumers has definitely taken the internet by storm. The rise of YouTube and other video sharing sites, are growing daily. Comcast has just announced a new site in which they will offer consumers to be able to create and upload their videos, in which they could then be seen on their On Demand channels.Verizon is also looking at a deal where their subscribers to their cable offerings could pay a small fee to view the most YouTube favorites through their TV.
The interesting question that will be raised is how would you compensate someone for the homemade video of watchin ice melt, that for some reason becomes highly sought after in YouTube. This will add another dimension and complexity to the Consumer Generated Media, that continues to grow by leaps and bounds. So break out the camcorder and record those videos, and who knows you may find your self on cable TV.
