My oldest daughter was due for a new cell phone so we started the search on the latest technology and bargains that were available. She thought she wanted the new slide phone from Samsung because she wanted a phone that was to text and IM her friends. We were fortunate enough to find a great deal on the new Palm Treo which is now the envy of all her friends. The phone has a ton of features that will be very nice as she enters the next few years in school. Plus the ease of texting has her constantly on the phone and now she wonders how she got by on her hold keypad cell phone.
She was surprised that the phone can be operated with a stylus or via the simple touchscreen which we were not aware was a feature. I have had Palm hand helds in the past and this great little phone is something that really makes great use of all the functionality of the Palm along with a nice phone and camera. She is just now starting to schedule play times with her friends and putting in party invites into her calendar which has increased her level of responsibility. She is even putting in her soccer and dance practice schedules so that can plan her weeks and what time she can hang out at her friends house. This new phone does give us leverage in the event she acts up or does not listen to her mother or I and we threaten to take her phone away for a few days. Overall the phone was a great purchase and she even sends me a text once in a while just to say hello.
The internet is the key to many things that are important to me in my life. Until about a year ago I had no idea that there were internet options other than modem, cable, and DSL. My life was run by shoddy connections to even shoddier companies who cared nothing for my well being. In a nutshell, I go to school and work on the internet. This means that in any given moment I must have direct and instant access to the internet and all of the tools available. Trying to connect to WIFI at a restaurant or somewhere I normally do not go was a pain, and cost me quite a bit.
Then I discovered bundles with tv and internet and all of my hopes and dreams seemed to zoom closer! Now I can go anywhere I please, literally. With the ability to sign on virtually any place I want to, I can go to the park and watch the sunset, while making money and continuing my education. This gives me the freedom that I never knew existed, and I am thankful for it every day.
While I work online, I can also listen to music and watch videos! This is wonderful with the great speed that I have to access everything. I never have to worry anymore about the internet dying, either! This has made my life 200% better, and I am happier than ever before.
There are numerous broadband phone companies that have come online in the past few years. This is due in part to the wide availability of broadband access into millions of homes. The traditional land line is becoming a thing of the past as consumers are finding that they can save hundreds every year through their VOIP or cell phone. Many people are dropping their landlines since they can port their existing number over and then just keep that number from one carrier to another. Most VOIP plans can save the average consumer about $30 per month over their existing phone bills and have the luxury of many more features included for free that they would have paid for otherwise with traditional phone lines.
My favorite children’s television show to watch with my kids is the new version of the Electric Company that we watch on the PBS channel on our Best Choice TV. If you remember the Electric Company from when you were a kid (in the ‘70s) then you will be familiar with the concept, although the show has been updated for a modern-day feel.
The show has two main aspects to it during each episode. First, there is a story running through the episode as the “good guy” teens, called the Electric Company, try to solve a problem that includes a handful of vocabulary words for each episode. In between segments of the main story, the show includes small, short segments that are designed to teach various aspects of reading. One short, for example, may contrast the hard “c” with soft “c” in English words. Another short may remind children of the rule surrounding the letters “I” and “e” in spelling.
If you watched the show as a child, you will remember one of the regular short segments where we see two of the characters with their faces in silhouette facing each other. One person will say the first syllable of the word, the other person will say the second syllable of the word, and then they say the word together.

No matter where you find yourself these days, you can bet there is always some music around to be heard. People that own cell phones don’t even let the ringer do it’s job anymore and most people have a ring tone on their phones. These ring tones are often the first few seconds of their favorite song. It seems like every time I go out in public, I will get the chance to hear a cell phone ringing. It really isn’t ringing, but a song that starts playing when someone is trying to call the person with the cell phone.
With all the new features that phones now offer choosing what your ringtone is going to sound like is taking a back stage to the apps that you can get. My daughter has her cell phone that she uses constantly to text and stay in touch with her friends so I thought it would be cool to help her find a unique ringtone for each of her friends. She was wanting to get some of the latest artists like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga. Grabbing her the newest Katy perry ring tones to have on her phone would certainly make her stand out. Now that it is summer I may have to get her the new hit California Gurls since she is now in that stage of her life where her friends are everything.
We were reading up on some of the capacity issues that have started to creep into broadband solutions since there are now more than 15 million people using VOIP and the more recent move to complete digital broadcasts by TV stations the bandwidth and performance has to expand. Back in 2005 the CIO of AT&T at the time made this statement “IP will eat everything,” simply meaning that the growing complexity and demand on the system at that will eventually use some type of internet based protocols to manage everything from voice, data, and video over IP. He went onto say that many businesses will not be prepared to scale up their infrastructure in order to handle the demand that will be placed on these systems. Now we fast forward to 2010 and this is certainly holding true as more and more companies are putting multimedia training on their networks in order to reduce travel and reduce time away from their customers.
In the UK providers like Synergy One offer business phone packages that now integrate VOIP for business. Allowing them to break away from their current ISDN lines and systems in order to have a more cost effective and technology advanced solution for their business needs. Because they partner with many of the leading companies in business communications they are able to offer different solutions that will fit your business needs instead of trying to fit your needs into one solution. With their BT Business IP services which is a next generation IP technology they now have a true replacement for ISDN. With the capacity now available in broadband companies are now able to scale up quickly in their business communications platform and offer phone, training, and integrated voice mail all in one easy to manage system.
We had the chance to check out a new and upcoming site called MyEventHub – Promote yourself!. It allows users to create a profile and then create an event where they can sell tickets to events like a fashion, music, or sports event. Imagine being a band where you are trying to promote your show taking place in a few weeks and want to pre-sell tickets in order to show the venue that you will bring the audience. This brings a new element allowing you to collect money and track who will be coming. The e-tickets look very professional and you can put various information on the ticket itself. Sites like this are just another avenue in which up and coming artists and promoters can use various social media tools in order to cost effectively promote themselves and handle all the aspects of their programs. As this site grows I would imagine that they will integrate it with Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace in order to create a more robust network so that as you promote yourself or event you can easily send updates and invites to your social networks.

I am a shy type who has always had more success working and doing things from home than I have in large public situations. I am actually agoraphobic and I cannot stand large crowds and being around groups of people. For this reason it has always been difficult for me to learn in school due to my paralyzing fear and anxieties in large groups of people. I did not want this phobia to keep me from getting my degree so I decided to explore my opportunities of earning my degree using satellite internet to take courses through an online college using hughes net in Texas. I signed up for classes so I could get my degree as a book keeper. I knew that getting a job as a book keeper would provide me with a good amount of one on one client relationships and I would not have to deal with a lot of crowds. The course took me about 3 years to complete with hughesnet internet service. I was able to work on an accelerated program and I scheduled normal class hours for myself as to not try and rush the process. After three years of studying and working comfortably toward my degree from home without putting myself in crowded situations using hughesnet internet, I graduated with a degree and am now working successfully as a book keeper for myself.

The internet was perhaps the best thing that ever happened to me. I was a two year college dropout, and had never finished my marketing degree. I didn’t have a dead-end job, but one could say that my job was not the best, especially for supporting my family. Then one day, my wife and I decided to install satellite internet, due to a deal that we got with our television provider. I decided that it might be time to finish up my college degree, before my credit eventually expired, and signed up for some online classes.
Taking online classes was an excellent decision. I have never been good at sitting through lectures, and with my online classes, I didn’t have to. In most cases, lectures were posted in video format online, and I was free to view them as I pleased. I had only a single class that had no lectures at all, and even that class I did pretty well, as I was essentially free to learn what I wanted. If I take classes in the future, they will definitely be online
Most every company used laptops to help do business on a daily basis and having them fully operational and offering support to their remote users is critical to business. The speed and simplicity in which you can help provide support to local and remote users can be the difference between productivity and profits and bottlenecks in the system.
