Knowledge Management (KM) has been around for years, but has recently started to make a comeback as technology has made the process easier for end users, and IT to implement. In terms of content, nearly all organizations make documentation and content authored by support reps available in a knowledge base ,but nearly half also index or import discussion forum threads as well much more of a KM 2.0 approach. At the same time, the average knowledge base contains nearly 50,000 documents, yet more than half of them are seldom or never used.

Many companies across the country use various methods to store, pack and ship their products to both customers and other businesses. In our industry we use a product fulfillment center to house, track, and ship out marketing materials to over 6000 sales people as well as fulfillment items to customers. From companies that sell HP Laserjet toner to those that sell electronics they use some sort of order fulfillment center. Controlling inventory costs on so many items to a large customer base can be demanding on any business and take a lot of resources. For instance we had a change in the market where we needed to get new sales aids to 3000 of our sales people in the field so there had to be a precise coordination between our printers and fulfillment center to be able to receive the items, piece them together and then get out to our teams in a matter of days. This type of coordination can only take place with those organizations that have the capabilities and experience to handle such requests. This was time sensitive information and any delays could have resulted in loss in market share across the nation.
Everyday companies face logistical challenges on how to distribute marketing items to their sales force or have items packed and shipped to their customers in a timely fashion. There is also the issue with on demand access and secure inventory control that must be taken into account. With larger fulfillment centers they can sometimes overlook the simple process of inventory control that we were intrigued to learn about a company

Each type of Broadband Technology has its own unique set of traits, advantages, disadvantages and characteristics. In fact, Broadband Technology Selection depends on circumstances and factors which include the coverage and penetration rate, capacity, spectrum usage, type of services to be provided, the availability of further alternatives, economic trends, the topographical and technical considerations. Therefore, to remain competitive and continue thriving in this fast evolving Broadband market, it is high time the Broadband Service Suppliers and Providers evolved a strategy of data, voice and video.

wifihotspotThere are plenty of fixed line as well as wireless solutions that are available. Fixed line solutions include the conventional telephone lines, copper cables, hybrid fibre coax such as cable TV and modems. Wireless solutions examples are radio, microwave frequencies and links, satellites, mobile phone connectivity, MMDS, LMDS, FSO, Wi-Fi, Wimax and 3G. By the nature of its medium, fixed line technology has limited bandwidth and generally operates through power lines or copper cables. FreeSpace or Wireless Technology uses the radio spectrum wherein the bandwidth is limited to the extent of the available amount of licensed radio spectrum. Out of this, WIMAX seems to be the most promising technology with its performance in key areas such as overall coverage, reach and data rate.

However, Fibre Communication Medium, in relativity to its competitors, offers almost an infinite level of bandwidth. Due to its immunity to electro magnetic fields and interference, it has higher levels of reliability and security than the wireless/copper networks. Therefore, it makes logical sense in deploying optical fibre systems which have low operating costs and have unsurpassed reliability. Consequently, direct fibre connections to all households would be a much desired concept even though it may involve the laborious and cumbersome task of network deployments in installing fibre optic cables all throughout the network in access. To wrap it up, we need to mention about the advanced optical glass fibres which is the latest development this field. A sample of its prowess is its ability to provide Broadband speeds upto 50 Mbps, something which is unheard of and beyond our imagination!

Students always have a tough time browsing through the end-less plans provided by broadband service providers, to find a suitable plan that will not gulp too much of their budget, yet help them stay connected to the virtual world faster. The major problem faced by most of the students is that they are unsure about the period of stay at a place. Here are certain things that you must ponder before you get set for the deal.

wifiThe first, and the foremost thing that you must consider is the period of stay at a place. This helps you to decide between a contract deal and a non-contract deal. If you are quiet unsure about a full-twelve months stay at a place, then it is always better to skip off the option of twelve months contracts and save yourself from the cancellation fee later. But while opting for a non-contract deal, the packages may be more expensive and there could be an activation fee. Besides, you may not get a free modem or a router. On the other hand, if you are going to stay for a period beyond twelve months, some broadband providers offers you student broadband packages.

Another useful option is to choose a mobile broadband option. As long as you have a Mobile USB sticks and USB modems, you can access the internet by plugging these into your laptops. This has become a well-known method of accessing internet these days. Students can use it wherever they go, to the coffee shops, to the students’ house or to home when they go. Another asset with the mobile broadband is the lack of line rental. Also, no unwanted tensions over the cost sharing with your room mates. But, mobile broadband comes with limited download options like 3GB to 5GB.

If you are a student, who owns a mobile phone contract, it is always advisable to choose the cheap broadband offers provided by your mobile phone service provider, rather than choosing a new broadband service provider. By this you can save a great deal of money. Furthermore, most of the broadband service providers offer you with broadband bundles. That is, to opt for internet packages that offer you all services together, including TV, Phone and Internet.

There are two ways to get broadband connections, via ADSL cable or fibre optic cable. The choice between these two are important. ADSL offers you the connection through existing copper wires of the telephone system in the student house. This could be a little slower than the connections offered through the fibre optic cables. But fibre optic cable connection is said to cover only 52% of UK, which implies that fibre optic internet connection may not be available in all places.

Above all, the most important factor for students is to find an internet connection that suits their pocket. To solve this problem, there are many websites that offer comparison between various broadband service providers. These websites not only provide you with the option to compare prices, but also allows the students to compare the features like speed of the connection. Surf through them thoroughly before you fall for packages offered by any internet service providers.

In short, a small research through the various broadband providers, and query on their reliability from their users could get you with the best suitable student broadband connection.

CMSPay per click (PPC) is by far one of the easiest and quickest methods of driving targeted, consistent traffic to your website. While this may seem like a daunting method of advertising for some, it’s actually quite easy and can end up becoming that one marketing method that you can’t live without. There are many PPC search engines, with some being better than others. The top two are Google and Yahoo, which was previously known as Overture. led_spotlightI really never gave too much thought about those signs and wondered why someone would even want to put up one in the first place. I assumed it was an employee of the company or some big manager or boss that was advertising for the security place they worked for. Later on as I saw more and more of these signs, I realized it was really customers for these security companies. I figured these companies must have great customer service; since so many home owners were helping to advertise for them, by placing signs in front of their homes. Now it makes me wonder if the signs are better than the actual security systems that get installed.

You first have to think like a criminal and figure out ways that you would prefer to break-in other people’s homes and what types of systems you would worry about the most. We often think about the bad guys breaking in at night and this is actually false. Most of your crimes that are centered around the home actually take place during the day. even having enhanced led home lighting can give the impression of a more secure home and provide an economical way to keep those lights on all night. A burglary or robbery is more likely during the day, because criminals won’t to avoid a human confrontation with someone that lives at a residence. If you’re thinking like the criminal would; then you know most people will be at home after dark and you don’t want anyone at home when you decide to break-in. The typical family that has a husband, wife, and kids will likely have day jobs and school, so it’s the daytime your home needs the most security. I would choose the day for those reasons and also you have more lighting during the daylight hours and no need to carry any flashlights or lighting equipment.

What company is better when it comes to satellite tv? You have two major companies that are out there, Dish Network and Direct TV. Which company has the best signal when it comes to bad weather, or just keeps the picture on your tv longer? I was just wondering these things, as I was thinking about satellite tv. I was wondering if one company was truly better than the other one. I do know good customer service is hard to find these days. Dish Network has horrible customer service. They have no idea and how to give the customers what they need. Dish Network really needs to put more money in their trainning and customer support. I’m not sure how many people they have lost, due to poor customer service. I haven’t heard anything on DirectTV, but would have to give them the edge on customer service.
It used to be that you had only one option for a cable provider in most areas and now that appears to be going away as several companies are expanding their reach. The nice thing about DirecTV is that is available anywhere and with the latest push to drive their customers to more costly digital services the cable companies are creating an easy path to satellite. If you only have access to 1 cable company, then that could be bad. No one there to compete with them. So they get to set all the rules and the prices. At least with having a dish tv, that you have 2 major companies competing for your services. So they will be in a war to beat one another, and the customer can usually have the best rates possible. Monthly tv charges are going up all the time. You can help fight these, by taking the company with the better deal.

clean fuelI have heard from many of you why I have not written more about Clean Coal. I have to admit that I am still a little behind on knowledge regarding this energy platform. I read into today’s WSJ that more Federal money is out there for the production and utilization of Clean Coal. It looks like 3.4 billion is out there for the taking and of course states are all in line to grab some market share of that money. First, I am thrilled whenever the government puts so much investment into energy. I love the fact that Coal can be found here in plentiful supply. I have seen the long lines of rail cars sitting in Wyoming waiting to be filled with coals that is literally just below the surface. It seems like a great opportunity. The idea is to capture the Carbon Dioxide so very little is let into the atmosphere. We have read about companies like Enigin that have energy consultants that are able to help businesses identify their nest energy savings and could even help with cleaner energy sources. What Rebecca Smith reports though is that these power plant projects are very expensive to build vs a Nuclear power plant; that is when looking at per unit of productive capacity. She also reports that another project was to convert coal into a combustible gas, then burn it to make electricity and the carbon dioxide pumped into the ground. But now an Odessa, TX plant will cost 1.6 billion dollars which is 10 times more than a modern gas fired plant. Thank you Ms Smith for your very informative article! So what to do?
