Advertising your business for success

The easiest use of  business phone lines is to help your customers reach you.

As the month comes to a close the inventory that a station may have could still be wide open and then the race begins to find customers to fill those slots. We just had the chance to check out a new way to help advertisers and radio and TV stations come together and buy and sell their inventory. This is a unique reverse auction where radio stations actually do the bidding for the advertisers business. The lowest CPM usually wins and is a win/win for both parties since advertisers can stretch their marketing dollars and radio stations have a chance to sell unused inventory. Advertisers will also be able to increase their brand recognition and customer engagement because they will now have a better resource to different radio markets.

The new link in sinks

I have noticed that many of the new restaurants are using what is called vessel sink in their restrooms. The reason that I have noticed is that we are looking to remodel one of guest bathrooms and my wife and I have been looking for some new ideas on how we can changes up the bathroom with just simple changes. The vessel sink looks like the one pictured here and provides a new modern look while providing a simple and easy install. At companies like MR Direct Sinks and Faucets they offer a large selection of vessel sinks in white porcelain with the faucets that are needed to properly install these sinks.This is just one type of sink that they offer among some of the great styles like the copper basin sinks which would be great in our master bath with that rustic feel and darker cabinets. The search is ongoing and now that we have some sources and better ideas of what we want to do now we have to make the commitment and just get it done.

Getting a watch with style

I saw the latest dolce and gabbana watch and talk about standing out. I would love to see my wife in this particular DG watch. The crystals around the edge and the bold DG in the middle make it stand out but not gaudy looking. I would even like a matching one to wear along with her so that when we go out people can know that we are connected. With watches from DG and other high fashion makers you can make your own statement even without paying the high prices.

What not to do with a presentation

Most of us have sat through meetings that were driven by fancy slides and lots of data. Most people make the mistake of creating great looking slides and talking to the slides rather than the content that is contained with the presentation. I tell my people when using a slide presentation engage the audience and add value to the presentation and not just get up and read the slides out loud to your customers or the audience. So here are few tips on what a slide presentation should not be:

Mulitple bullet points on one slide (Usually 2-3 are fine)

A lot of written text (Do not put a book on one slide)

A lot of flashy graphics and music as this can detract from your message that you are trying to get across

Finally, use your slides as a means to convey your key points and as reinforcement to your message. The slides should be used to have impact not a distraction. Keep these few points in mind when creating your next presentation and you will see a dramatic impact and better response with your audience.

Is it time to remodel

One of the best remodel decisions we made when doing our basement was to add a full bathroom. We used a ceramic sink with granite counter tops and back splash to match what we had up stairs. We also used the same solid wood doors and trim to keep the flow of the entire home. This approach while a bit more costly than trying to just go plain actually has helped to create a nice atmosphere for guests when they stay over.
We looked at several styles of ceramic sinks from oval above the counter to rectangular versions and landed on the oval drop in sinks. While we had a contractor finish the basement we were given allowances on the various features that we chose and tried to do our research on some of the best deals. While we did not purchase online we have become aware for future purchases of Mr Direct Sink and Faucets that provide their customers with low prices and same day shipping. So before heading off to a big box store you may want to look online to possibly save a few bucks.

The 2010 Home buying tax credit

If you are trying to buy a home and have not been advised of the 2010 Home Buying Tax Credit then you may want to check with your real estate professional who is helping you with your search. The US Government has announced that the tax credit was extended until the end of February meaning that you need to have a contract in place and close by the end of June. This benefit is meant to help infuse the home buying sector with additional dollars and help those that are trying to sell their home. Basically the tax credit is targeted at new home buyers or those that have not owned a home in the last three years with a tax credit up to $8000.

It is estimated that for each medium priced home that is sold there is an additional $30-$40K added to the local economy.The housing market has a huge impact on the economy and as the Spring weather starts to roll around the housing market should start to realize an increase as people are looking to take advantage of historically low interest rates and additional bonuses and tax credits. I have read some reports that if the momentum continues to grow in the demand for homes then some builders will offer up their own “tax credit” savings to buyers in order to sell of inventory that has been sitting around for months.

Brand recognition

One company that I like to mention is Gillette because they have done a masterful job of getting guys to buy into the Gillette Power razor which I happen to own. While the initial investment in the razor itself, the blades that you need to come back and buy are the profit center. They have been able to develop a brand with print and online advertising that have featured the likes of Tiger Woods to help personify the brand and what they stand for. A close comfortable shave.
