My wife is a pro at surfing the net and finding the best deals. Once she finds what she is looking for, she may even call the Hotel or airline, just to double check.These days the easiest way to plan your next trip or vacation away from home is by making an online travel booking. You have probably seen the ads for Magic Jack where for one low yearly price of under $20 you can make calls anywhere in the US. This is not like Skype, but an actual VOIP device that simply plugs into your USB port on your PC that is connected to a broadband connection. You can select your own number from a huge selection of magic jack numbers with local area codes or you choose. At the site MagicJackNumbers.com they provide a great resource for all the available area codes as well as answers to the Magic Jack device. They have recently put up a section showing how you can now use the Magic Jack with Macs. So if you are tired of paying monthly for your local phone why not cut the cord and check out the VOIP options.

Remodel your kitchen

They say that one of the best returns on your investment when remodeling a home is in the kitchen. From upgraded kitchen sinks to new cabinets you can easily see a 25-40% return on your investment. When you watch many of the home make over shows one of the rooms that they always update is the kitchen. They will update the kitchen sink and counter tops and cabinets to help brighten up the kitchen space. If you think about it this is where you hang out with friends and family when they come over so expanding the eating area will only increase the over all appeal of the home. We bought our home in Pennsylvania because of the open kitchen and great room and by simply modifying some of the cabinets and putting in a granite sink over the stainless steel we improved the value by over $15K.

The new link in sinks

I have noticed that many of the new restaurants are using what is called vessel sink in their restrooms. The reason that I have noticed is that we are looking to remodel one of guest bathrooms and my wife and I have been looking for some new ideas on how we can changes up the bathroom with just simple changes. The vessel sink looks like the one pictured here and provides a new modern look while providing a simple and easy install. At companies like MR Direct Sinks and Faucets they offer a large selection of vessel sinks in white porcelain with the faucets that are needed to properly install these sinks.This is just one type of sink that they offer among some of the great styles like the copper basin sinks which would be great in our master bath with that rustic feel and darker cabinets. The search is ongoing and now that we have some sources and better ideas of what we want to do now we have to make the commitment and just get it done.

Mobile marketing has a new friend in WeReward

With the millions of smart phones that are being used in the US companies have been trying to help expand their mobile marketing campaigns to take advantage of those that are on the go. The younger generation use their phone for more than just making calls today and have a greater sense of connecting with others no matter where they are. The iPhone has created a demand to have simple and fast connections to the internet no matter where you are to stay connected, shop, and simply engage with others that are around you. I have recently downloaded the new app from Wereward.com where they connect businesses and end users to pay them for simply shopping and checking in.
Simply put all you have to do is find a local merchant through the app which mostly automatic and by completing their task you get points which are then converted to cash. This has to be one of the easiest ways to make some extra cash for doing many of the things that you are already doing. How many times have you checked your twitter or facebook account to see those updates that Joe just stopped by the local mexican restaurant to have a Margaretta? What if by doing that he got paid? I am looking forward to visiting some of your local merchants with my new app loaded on my iPhone and gaining some extra spending cash.

Considering The Daily Show a Favorite

My favorite news program, by far, is The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I know he is the first to say that his program should not be considered a news show, but in truth, it has become far more than simply cable entertainment and has become a solid resource for news and current events. I think the format of the show is perfect for my tastes, as he finds a way to address the news topics of the day while giving them a new twist. I would never be willing to give up my www.Direct.TV satellite TV because there is no way I would be willing to drop my habit of watching The Daily Show. I also love many of the correspondents he has on the show and I enjoy following the careers that have developed after a stint on the show. I especially love watching the alumni come back to the show, like when Steve Carell or Ed Helms return to promote a project of their own. Watching the interviews Jon Stewart does with book authors has greatly influenced my reading tastes and I find myself digging into historical and political non-fiction far more than I did before watching the show. To me, The Daily Show is the perfect combination of humor and information with a strong dose of sarcasm thrown in for good measure.

Why use cable when you can use satellite?

The internet is the key to many things that are important to me in my life. Until about a year ago I had no idea that there were internet options other than modem, cable, and DSL. My life was run by shoddy connections to even shoddier companies who cared nothing for my well being. In a nutshell, I go to school and work on the internet. This means that in any given moment I must have direct and instant access to the internet and all of the tools available. Trying to connect to WIFI at a restaurant or somewhere I normally do not go was a pain, and cost me quite a bit.

Then I discovered bundles with tv and internet and all of my hopes and dreams seemed to zoom closer! Now I can go anywhere I please, literally. With the ability to sign on virtually any place I want to, I can go to the park and watch the sunset, while making money and continuing my education. This gives me the freedom that I never knew existed, and I am thankful for it every day.

While I work online, I can also listen to music and watch videos! This is wonderful with the great speed that I have to access everything. I never have to worry anymore about the internet dying, either! This has made my life 200% better, and I am happier than ever before.

The Electric Company

My favorite children’s television show to watch with my kids is the new version of the Electric Company that we watch on the PBS channel on our Best Choice TV. If you remember the Electric Company from when you were a kid (in the ‘70s) then you will be familiar with the concept, although the show has been updated for a modern-day feel.

The show has two main aspects to it during each episode. First, there is a story running through the episode as the “good guy” teens, called the Electric Company, try to solve a problem that includes a handful of vocabulary words for each episode. In between segments of the main story, the show includes small, short segments that are designed to teach various aspects of reading. One short, for example, may contrast the hard “c” with soft “c” in English words. Another short may remind children of the rule surrounding the letters “I” and “e” in spelling.

If you watched the show as a child, you will remember one of the regular short segments where we see two of the characters with their faces in silhouette facing each other. One person will say the first syllable of the word, the other person will say the second syllable of the word, and then they say the word together.

Getting a watch with style

I saw the latest dolce and gabbana watch and talk about standing out. I would love to see my wife in this particular DG watch. The crystals around the edge and the bold DG in the middle make it stand out but not gaudy looking. I would even like a matching one to wear along with her so that when we go out people can know that we are connected. With watches from DG and other high fashion makers you can make your own statement even without paying the high prices.

Time for a remodel

We recently purchased a home with an unfinished basement and are looking to do some different things to make it functional and place our kids and their friends can play. I have an idea for the bathroom to make it  sports themed with two colored porcelain sinks that would match the colors of Alma Mater which are Crimson and Grey. Then we would have the counter tops done in granite with matching sport towels and some cool posters around the walls. I have even toyed with the idea of putting a small LCD TV in the bathroom just like in the ESPN Zone to really make it cool. Hopefully we will be able to find a matching porcelain sink that will fit our theme and really impress our friends when they come over this Fall to watch the games.

Find your place at the Hotel Union Square

I have had the pleasure of staying in San Francisco for business and pleasure. There are several high end hotels in the Union Square section of San Francisco which offer several amenities that appeal to the business and casual traveler. The hotel union square consists of one special place called the Hotel Abri. When booking a hotel like this there are several things that I am looking for to make my stay more enjoyable:
1) A very comfortable bed
2) Frequent guest perks such as upgrades and points that can used at other properties
3) Free Wi-Fi to stay connected to work and friends
While there are so many things to do and see in the Golden Gate city having a great hotel to come back to in the evening makes the trip that much more enjoyable.
