Finding Penny Stocks

pennystockThe stock market has been a huge roller coaster ride over the past 6-8 months and many are wondering where they should be investing their money. While we do have money in the stock market there are other investment vehicles that are available and can be very good as part of an overall investment strategy. One of those areas that we have been starting to read up on are penny stocks. The first thing I had to do was calibrate my understanding of what a penny stock actually was. My long term understanding was that penny stocks were those that sold for pennies or at least under $5.  I did some research and found that I was pretty close in my understanding. Most of these stocks are traded off of the major exchanges and have a much higher risk because they less liquidity. While this definition is broad there are now several large companies like GM that have recently entered this selling range due to the financial hardships.

The big reason for this article is to help people understand what changes can happen when they diversify their portfolio but finding resources in which to look and research. One of the lead figures on penny stocks is Peter Leeds who has a website that can help beginners to more advanced traders through his research and knowledge of the market in order to find undervalued stocks. While there are risks with any investment no matter how small having tools to help you follow and understand why one company would be a better investment than another is critical in your success. At pennystocks.com you can learn about the various companies and by signing up for your free trial you can see what resources and tools that are available to help you find and invest wisely.

Getting a goods night sleep

Wow, so sorry it has taken so long to write. Last week was spring break and was it busy. Family outings, vacations, driving all over the place etc. How can one rest when there is so much to do. When I was driving around, I could not help but see that our parks were full, kids were playing and families were having picnics all around. We may be in a depression, but our children would never know it. Sure, the huge vacations to Disney are great along with cruises etc but at the end of the day, kids just want to have fun and have their parents involved. They sleep just as well as after a day in the park as they do in a hotel in Anaheim, after a long day at the park. Many of the hotels have the pillow top Sealy mattresses but it seemt that you can never get that same style in the retail shops. Its a long day because you want to get your money’s worth after those huge plane tickets, theme park meal prices and hotel prices which seem to snowball. What is better a little relaxation in the park or exhaustion after a theme park. Hard to say, I love the theme parks too but this could be a great opportunity to show our kids what is important in life and that perhaps years from now when the economy is stable they will look back and see how parents perform in hard times. What will your kids say about your behavior?

Should wearing a helmet be mandatory

About two years ago our neighboring state of Idaho was able to get enough votes to repeal the helmet law when riding motorcycles on public roads. I have to say while I am all for personal freedom one of the craziest things you can do is jump on a bike and head down the freeway with no helmet. While you may be a great attentive driver it is all the other cars on the road that may not see you and taking a spill at 50+ can be a one way ticket to the morgue. This has only spurred the sales of local bike shops as people challenge the status quo and head out onto the roads without a helmet. As the ability to get motorcycle financing has become easier younger riders that may have not previously owned a bike are making their first purchase. This has been a cause of concern of some of the die hard bikers that state the younger riders are taking a reckless approach to trying out their new bikes and that maybe the law should be looked at having a age restriction like they do for drinking in the state.

Time to think about outdoors

Here in the Pacific NW it has been a long winter and most of us are ready to see warmer temperatures and not have to look at snow for a long time. The official beginning to Spring is just a week a away and fishing state wide is starting to heat up as the fisheries that stocked many of the rivers and streams are releasing fish counts for those looking to catch trout, bass, and walleye. I have noticed that the local sports stores are starting to post daily updates on the local streams and lakes and what people are using to catch the local fish.
This year should see a greater number of Americans enjoying the outdoors as they plan to stay closer to home and spend less on traveling abroad. With the state of the economy the ability to enjoy the outdoors and maybe take up a new hobby like fishing could be just the ticket you and your family need. The time spent with your kids along a shoreline just hanging out with no TV and other distractions are memories that will always remember.

Are we headed to global warming

When will the global warming stop? Probably not anytime soon, since we are accustomed to our modern conveniences. This is something that is upon us now. It’s not years and years away. We are headed for a disastrous world in our lifetime, if things aren’t changed soon.

Hopefully the modern countries of the world can get together and team up to stop global warming. It’s up to all of us to recycle, drive more efficient automobiles, use less electricity, and just trying to conserve all together.

We could be within 10 years of seeing the oceans of the world rise 20 feet, which would displace 10′s of millions of people out of their homes and communities. Summer is coming soon, and just how much more will the polar ice caps melt? An Inconvenient Truth just came out on Showtime recently. It was produced by Al Gore. Why he does take the time to get his political shots in, there is a great message behind the political side of things. It’s the message that all the world needs to hear. Global Warming is ahead of the avian virus (bird flu), in what damage it could do in the short years to come.

How to bring customers to your blog

Consider offering a free service that is beneficial to the consumer. Offer free update services, a newsletter or an e-zine. If you’re worried that this may be too time consuming, put your fears aside. You can obtain free services that will notify you when someone has signed up for your newsletter and through the use of a distribution list on your e-mail you can easily handle circulation for your newsletter or e-zine. Keep in mind, however; when you are putting together your newsletter or e-zine that the only reason a consumer has for signing up and continuing to subscribe to your publication is for worthy information. Don’t allow your publication to become a forum for advertising. Provide information that is of real benefit to the reader and that convinces them to re-visit your site. In order to really make a quality publication make sure you include a privacy statement and provide a link in the publication for the customer to unsubscribe at any time if they wish.

Using boards and forums to drive traffic

You will see how I use mine to network with like-minded people; folks that are interested in building a business using the Internet. Finding blog traffic is very easy and you must be patient for the results. The theme of your message board could be anything that is related to your web site. They help attract an audience, and people visiting your site can actually SEE that you are indeed “tending shop”. How many times have you visited a web site and wondered if the information that was provided was current? How often is it updated? Does the owner of this site actually take an interest in their business? All these question and more can be answered by adding a message board to your site. Visitors will be able to see how you interact with others and it will help establish credibility for you and your business. The number #1 reason, why people will not buy from you on the web is TRUST. Many simply refuse to trust on-line vendors.

If you are going to be building the site yourself, and are too overwhelmed to try to install a CGI program like this yourself, there are free ones you can use. All the free message board providers require you to carry their banner ad on your message board. You get free use of the board in exchange for them being able to advertise to all your visitors.

Your best choice is to have a developer install one for you on your web site. If you would rather use a free service, here is a list of places that will provide you with a message board you can use, and link to your site.
